Why do I only use Soy Wax?
At FÝR Northumbria, we choose soy wax because it is a clean, renewable, and plant‑based alternative to traditional paraffin. Paraffin is derived from petroleum, a non‑renewable resource, and burns faster with more soot, which can mark containers, walls, and ceilings. It can also release chemicals into the air as it burns, which is far from ideal for indoor spaces. In contrast, soy wax is sustainably sourced from soybeans, burns slowly and evenly, and carries fragrance gently, creating a longer‑lasting, cleaner candle that fills your home with warmth and calm.
Beyond its sustainability, soy wax enhances the sensory experience of each candle. Its lower melting point allows essential oils to release their natural scents fully, giving a subtle, balanced aroma that complements a quiet, considered atmosphere. The soft, even melt pool supports a steady burn and gentle glow, making each lighting a moment of calm and reflection. By choosing soy over paraffin, we create candles that are better for your home, for the environment, and for the craft itself.
Why do I only use Natural Essential Oils
At FÝR Northumbria, we use natural essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils because they provide a pure, authentic scent experience. Fragrance oils are often artificially created, overpowering, and can smell chemical or flat, masking the subtlety of natural ingredients. Essential oils, on the other hand, capture the true character of plants, herbs, woods, and flowers, giving each candle a layered, nuanced aroma that feels calm, considered, and alive.
Using essential oils also supports a cleaner, more natural burn. They blend beautifully with our 100 percent vegan soy wax, releasing fragrance gently without overwhelming the space or filling it with synthetic notes.
